All teams will practice once per week for 1.5 hours. Practices will be on a weekday sometime between 4:30-7:30 with a consistent weekly schedule. Coaches will work with team members to determine the best day and time for majority of their team. Some teams may choose to practice twice a week.

Fall Cheer (6th football): Practices begin mid-July, location may vary; Practice twice a week

Winter Cheer (3rd-6th basketball): Practices begin the week after Fall Break in mid-October, most will be in the Aletto Family Sports Complex, however locations may vary

Our 6th Grade Fall/Football Cheer team will cheer for all Home and Away Pups Football games. This includes games over Fall Break. Pups Football games are on Saturdays from August to late October/early November.

Our 3rd-6th Winter/Basketball Cheer team will cheer for our Pups Boys Basketball games, on a rotating schedule between teams. As of now, there are 4-5 Boys Basketball teams per grade, and we have 1-3 Cheerleading teams per grade. As our program continues to grow, we would like to have one cheer team per basketball team. At that point, our teams would cheer for all home and away Sunday League games for their prospective team. 

Each Winter Cheer team will typically cheer 1 game each Sunday as part of the IndianaBall School League for Pups Basketball, based on the prospective team they are cheering for. Some teams will cheer double headers, with 2 games on a Sunday, at times. All basketball games are on Sundays (we only cheer for the Sunday league) from mid-November and to late February/early March.

Our program also offers a few additional cheering and performance opportunities:

• 6th grade cheerleaders (football and basketball combined) have the option to walk and cheer in the CarmelFest 4th of July Parade

• All teams participate in Carmel High School's Fall Cheer Share the Spirit program, where all cheerleading programs within our Carmel Clay Schools system - Pups, Creekside MS, Carmel MS, Clay MS, and Carmel HS, perform a cheer and/or routine for family and friends at Carmel High School.

• During the 2024-2025 season, our 4th-5th grade cheerleaders got the opportunity to cheer for the CDC Tackle Football Championship hosted at Carmel High School, and we hope to continue to find similar opportunities moving forward.

• Some of our teams have taken the opportunity to perform at various Elementary Family Fun Nights

The total cost for the program is about $600-$800 per athlete. This includes skills and materials clinics run by our CHS Cheer staff and athletes, practice venues, games, all uniform items, special spirit items, end-of-season banquets, celebrations, and MORE! The cost is varied, as uniform items from previous seasons can be reused.

Carmel Cheer Club (CCC) is a recreational, traditional competition cheerleading program for 5th-8th graders run by Brooke Kibler. Molly Reuille, our Pups commissioner, is also one of the coaches for this program. We highly encourage participation in both of our programs, as they will be working together as feeder programs for Carmel High School cheerleading.
