I have worked in education for fifteen years as a teacher and educational technology trainer. Before making the switch to online education, I spent the first eight years of my career teaching high school language arts at a brick-and-mortar school in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio. I earned a B.S. in Secondary Education – Language Arts from the University of Cincinnati and am currently working on a M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology at American College of Education, expected to graduate in December 2023. I am an ISTE Certified Educator, Google Certified Educator, and Microsoft Innovative Educator. I have also earned (along with the rest of the English department at Davidson Academy Online) a Blackboard Catalyst Award for work on content creation and online instruction.
Currently, I teach language arts and history courses at the Davidson Academy Online and continue to develop online courses and content. Teaching online has allowed me to pursue a passion for creating a community despite physical barriers, and my classes often focus on building relationships with students in a learning community.
I live in Mason, Ohio with my husband, four children, a beagle, and two cats. When I find a moment to myself, I enjoy reading (especially mysteries), listening to podcasts or audiobooks, and taking my dog for extra long walks.
