CARLOG Privacy Policy

CARLOG ("the app", "we", "us") is designed to protect your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. By using CARLOG you agree to this policy.
SUMMARY
CARLOG is offline-first. The vehicle, fuel, expense, odometer, and reminder data you enter is stored locally on your device. We do not require an account, and we do not collect or receive your records on our own servers. CARLOG itself does not sync your data to any cloud service. Some optional AI features send a summary of your data to a third-party AI provider only when you choose to use them, as described below.
INFORMATION YOU ENTER
You can add vehicles, fuel and expense entries, odometer readings, notes, and reminders. This information is stored only on your device using the app's local database. It is not transmitted to us.
AI ADVISOR FEATURES
When you actively use an AI advisor feature, CARLOG sends a summary of the relevant vehicle and cost data to Anthropic, PBC, the provider of the Claude AI models, to generate a response. This data is sent only at the moment you request an AI insight.
If you use your own Claude API key (Pro Lifetime), requests are made directly to Anthropic under your own key and account.
If you use the Managed AI subscription, the app accesses Anthropic on your behalf using an included key.
We do not store your data on our own servers. Anthropic processes the request under its own privacy policy, available at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy. We recommend not entering sensitive personal information into free-text fields that may be included in an AI request.
CAMERA AND PHOTOS
If you scan a receipt, CARLOG uses your camera or a photo you select and reads the text using on-device text recognition provided by Apple. Images and recognized text are processed on your device and are not sent to us.
CALENDAR AND NOTIFICATIONS
With your permission, CARLOG can add maintenance reminders to your calendar and send you local notifications. You can revoke these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.
PURCHASES
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple handles billing under its own terms and privacy policy.
LOCATION
CARLOG does not collect your precise location.
ANALYTICS AND ADVERTISING
CARLOG does not include third-party advertising and does not use third-party tracking or advertising software development kits.
DATA SHARING
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share your records for marketing.
DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can remove individual records in the app, reset all data from the app's settings, or delete the app to remove its local data from your device.
CHILDREN
CARLOG is not directed to children and is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
SECURITY
Because your records are stored locally, their security depends largely on your device. We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your device software up to date.
INTERNATIONAL USERS
If you use an AI feature, your request may be processed by Anthropic on servers that may be located in other countries. By using these optional features you consent to this processing.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
