Anisotropies in the Cosmic Microwave Background are carriers of information concerning cosmological perturbations, in the earliest stage accessible through electromagnetic radiation. My group at SISSA is involved into some of the main global efforts for measuring those, in particular in the curl mode of the linear polarization, looking for the signatore of Cosmological Gravitational Waves. The Simons Observatory is an US led international experiment, made by a network of telescopes designed to operate with an unprecedented number of detectors and frequency coverage from the ground, in the Atacama desert in Chile, starting in 2022. Hardware and operations are supported by the Simons Foundation. The target is the measurement of Cosmological Gravitational Waves from the Early Universe and Gravitational Lensing, with increasing accuracy and sensitivity with respect to earlier probes. The research group at SISSA is in charge of developing the pipeline of data analysis concerning the sky modeling and the data analysis for the extraction of the cosmological signal out of the diffuse polarization contamination from our own Galaxy.

The LiteBIRD satellite is designed to operate from about 1000000 km from Earth, beyond the Moon, in the same location as the previous Planck Satellite. Hardware and operations will be supported by the Japanese, European, Canadian and United States Space Agencies. The contribution from the Italian Space Agency, research institutions and National Institute for Nuclear Physics is coordinated through the COSMOS LiteBIRD Network. It will be operational in the second half of the 2020 decade, and it is designed to perform ultimate measurements of the large scale polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background from space, accessing the whole sky with a frequency coverage accessible from space only, and therefore uniquely constraining the Cosmological Gravitational Waves on large scales. I am a member of the Interim Governing Board, and co-coordinating the Working Group responsible for the modeling and removal of the astrophysical emissions and the extraction of the signal from Cosmological Gravitational Waves, where the SISSA group is in charge of perform design studies.

It is operating and observing the linear polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background, searching for the imprint of Cosmological Gravitational Waves and Gravitational Lensing. I am part of the management board, and the research group at SISSA leads the analysis of the maps for studying, characterizing and removing the contamination from the emission of the Milky Way.

The hardware and operations are supported by the Italian Space Agency and the National Institute for Nuclear Physics. The main goal is the observation of the large scale pattern of the polarization anisotropies in the Cosmic Microwave Background, on large portions of the sky. Observations and analysis are set to start in 2022. I am one of the Co-Investigators for the ground based component, and the research group at SISSA supports the forecasting of the scientific impact and the combination with the data from other probes operating in Tenerife.

Following the design and construction, from early 90s to the launch on May 14th, 2009, has been operating since 2014, and the analysis of data concluded in 2019. It produced, to date, the best all sky reconstruction of the Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropies in total intensity, and a large part of the polarization signal. Plus tens of thousands of galaxies, and hundreds of galaxy clusters, and gained important clues on the diffuse emissions in the Milky Way, which are the basis of ongoing efforts by operating and future probes. The researchers in the Astronomical Observatory and at SISSA have been co-operating on the reduction of the data for the Low Frequency Instrument onboard Planck in Trieste, Italy. In two of the three data releases, I have been leading the Planck projects concerning the reconstruction of astrophysical emissions as well as the Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropies.
