In a flipped classroom, the work of the class is essentially "flipped" - students take notes outside of class and work through problems, activities, and labs inside the classroom. This means students get to take notes on the content at their own pace (though online readings, videos, and simulations) and get more support from the teacher as they work through problems and activities in class. This model of teaching has been shown to improve student performance in introductory science classes, and is widely used in medical schools. We will work together at the beginning of the year to ensure everyone has access to the required technology to be successful in a flipped classroom.
