Welcome to my website
I am a Postdoc at Sapienza University of Rome where I work on the role of first-nature geographical conditions in explaining Italy's North-south divide (PI Prof. Jacob Weisdorf).
I have successfully passed my PhD by defending the thesis "What boosts innovation? Evidence from history" in front of Professor Claudia Steinwender, Professor Nikolaus Wolf, and Professor Marianna Belloc.
My PhD thesis explores the root causes of innovation. To this end, I use national industrial censuses from France to examine the adoption of steam technology among local industries in the two decades spanning the 1840s and the 1860s. In this context, I investigate various aspects of economic circumstances, such as trade-regulations, infrastructure, and labour-market conditions, for their role in the processes of innovation and industrialization.
