I am an economic historian. I first became interested in economic history studies while earning my Master of Macroeconomic Policy and Financial Markets at Sapienza University of Rome. I was fascinated by the study of the great divergence and by how economic historians try to explain the reason why there are still differences today in development and inequality between countries or regions.
For this reason, I decided to do my master thesis on the real wage divergence in Italy during the liberal age (1861-1921). Next, I applied and got accepted to the European PhD in socio-economic and statistical studies. I successfully defended my PhD dissertation, which looks at the causes of innovation from a historical perspective, in front of Professor Claudia Steinwender, Professor Nikolaus Wolf, and Professor Marianna Belloc.
I am currently working on the role of first-nature geography and Institution quality on the regional disparities in the Italian context under the PRIN project 2020 (PI Jacob Weisdorf).
I am one of the organizers of the YSI-EHES Graduate Webinar in Economic History and a Student Ambassador for the Economic History Society.
