As Catholics, we believe in living our faith in action, embodying compassion, and reaching out to those in need. Natural disasters, such as floods, landslides, and earthquakes, can cause significant devastation in Malaysia. Caritas MJD is committed to responding to these crises with unwavering solidarity, love, and practical assistance. Joining our Disaster Response Team provides you with a unique opportunity to put your faith into action, directly impacting the lives of those affected and offering them hope and support during their most challenging times. 

We are recruiting members to prepare and respond immediately once disaster hit areas in Melaka and Johor. There are 4 main roles and function (highlighted in orange in the chart below) according to this Incident Command System (ICS), a standardized approach to the command, control, and coordination of emergency response used internationally.

Description of Roles

Operations

The Operation team plays a hands-on role in disaster response. Members are involved in finding suitable locations (venues) for relief centers, efficiently distributing relief supplies to affected communities, supervising on-site relief operations, and ensuring that essential aid reaches the hands of the victims promptly.

Planning

The Planning team takes charge of devising a well-coordinated disaster response strategy. Team members are responsible for developing comprehensive response plans, deciding what actions to take and when to implement them. They collaborate with other team members and consult with experts to optimize the team's efforts in providing aid and support during the crisis. 

Logistics

The Logistics team focus on the smooth flow of relief operations. They identify the specific resources needed for the disaster response, locate and procure necessary materials, and coordinate the efficient delivery of aid to the affected areas. Their logistical expertise is vital in ensuring that help reaches those in need without delay. 

Finance Admin

The Finance Admin team handles the financial aspects of the disaster response. Members record all income and expenses related to the relief efforts, actively engage in fundraising activities to secure necessary funds, and ensure the proper allocation of resources by facilitating the transfer of funds to areas where aid is urgently required.

We welcome volunteers who also be willing to help in simple task like purchasing, packing, availing your presence to comfort those who are afflicted by disasters. Training and guidance will be provided.
