Have you been wondering how homeschooling works? How some mums juggle homeschooling and working? What do the days looks like, how to fit it in with life? If so, then this episode is a must. Rhi had it all in the world of career - a business she built from the ground up, she was thriving financially and climbing all the ladders. But one day, after many work trips and time away from her family, she found herself soul searching. Is this really the life she wanted? Did this fit in with her values? The answer came fast and clear - Rhi gave up her financially secure business and decided to focus on her family instead. She responded to her child's school refusal by deciding, on a whim, she would try homeschooling. Now, two years later, she is still homeschooling her son who is now happy, thriving and no longer has worries and stresses about going to school. She is building a new business that allows her to use her passion of creativity and still be around for her family, as well as fulfilling their familie's financial requirements.

Today we welcomed Dr. Synta from Euneek You Health to talk about Women's Health through all the seasons of womanhood. Dr. Synta has a background in Chinese Medicine, is a Naturopath and a mother herself who shares some must hear insights about how we can better care for ourselves depending on our stage of life. Mum guilt - a real phenomenon that psycholgy classifies as so profound in a mother's life that it has been deemed it's own sub-type of guilt. We chat about the different ways we experience mum guilt - how our path through motherhood affects what we feel guilty about, as well as what we have in common, regardless of how we do motherhood. Finally, we bring in some interesting information from the literature, so if you like a bit of "research" talk, then this chat will satisfy those curiosities.
On our second episode of Careers & Cartwheels, and our first topic, we chat about Post-Partum Identity Loss. We both experienced this sense of loss and confusion, and as we navigated the changes and challenges we each chose a different pathway on which to go through motherhood. We chat about personal and family values, and how they dictated the decisions we made once we became mums, and the idea of "bouncing forward" rather than looking back.
In Careers and Cartwheel's PREMIERE episode, Pam and Zana dive into their journey's through motherhood and the way they decided to do the "mum juggle". Surprisingly, the juggles are polar opposites - from corporate career climbing mum of 5 navigating school drop-offs, lunch preps, a blended family and trying to find time for the much needed "me time" through it all to a homeschooling mum who completed uni, started the career climb, then married her highschool sweetheart and gave up the career for days at home with her busy boy crew. Both are busy, both are relevant, both are in line with each set of values. We introduce ourselves and shine light on our differences so we can emphasise the reason for Careers & Cartwheels - to build empathy and understanding between all mums so we can respect each other's chosen pathways through the mum journey.
