How much education do you need to get a job? Some jobs don't require any special training, while others require a university degree or more. The chart below shows you the levels of education the United States and the average number of years it takes to get them. There are also certificates and licenses that you can get without a degree, or in addition to other training and education. 

Transferring Your Education from Another Country

If you have a degree from another country, you might be able to use it in the U.S.! You can get your transcript (list of classes and grades) evaluated to see if it is the equivalent (same) as a degree in the U.S. This can save you time and money. Here are some companies that evaluate transcripts:
