CARDMUN II SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 27TH & 28TH
Double Delegation Committee
Topic A: Protection of Journalism
Topic B: Handling Asylum Seekers
Chairs: Hirah Contractor & Sakshi Gowda
Hello everyone! My name is Hirah Contractor, and I’m a Senior at Gainesville High School. I’ve been involved in Model UN for four years, which has inspired me to pursue International Relations and Finance in college. This is my second year chairing UNHRC for CardMUN (fun fact, UNHRC was my first committee I competed in)! Outside of MUN, I run my nonprofit Parwa United and love spending time with friends learning Bollywood dances. I’m also a huge R&B and rap fan, especially Kendrick Lamar and SZA, so feel free to share some music recs when you walk into committee! Whether this is your first or final conference, I hope to make this a memorable experience filled with diplomacy, creativity, and fun—and don’t be afraid to use props in your speeches. I'm so excited to meet you all, and good luck! Delegates, feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Hi everyone! My name is Sakshi Gowda, and I'm currently a junior at Battlefield High School. I started MUN when I was in 6th grade and am now going into my sixth year. Through my participation in Model UN, I've learned the importance of collaboration and addressing worldwide issues, sparking my interest in International Relations, which I hope to pursue along with Business once I'm in college. Aside from MUN, you can find me almost every Saturday at FBLA, Debate, or Mock Trial competitions. Outside of school and activities, I love spending time with my friends, traveling, and watching sports - I was born in Boston and am a huge Patriots fan, so brownie points if you're a fan of any Boston sports team! Regardless of whether this is your first ever Model UN conference or your millionth, I hope to make this conference memorable for every delegate. I'll be looking for delegates who have creative speeches, fun hooks, and diplomatic leadership skills, as well as the ability to think on their feet. Partner dynamics are very important to me, since my co chair Hirah and I are best friends and I love when delegates have good partner chemistry. But all jokes and yap aside, the most important thing is to have fun at this conference! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to me or talk to me during committee!
