Carbon Control
Encouraging a more eco-friendly future.
Encouraging a more eco-friendly future.
Mission:
Aviation plays a role in the exponential rise of CO2 emissions, which accelerates the effects of global warming. How can we work together to reduce its negative impact?
Emissions and Global Warming
The amount of carbon emissions released is based on this formula from Our World in Data:
Aviation Demand (amount of people)
Energy efficiency
Carbon intensity (fuel used)
While aviation demand has risen, there has been no change in the carbon intensity. This means carbon emissions are only increasing, contributing to warming temperatures.
So what?
Flying, especially commercially, is one of the most carbon intensive activities. Aviation emissions on a wider scope directly contribute to global warming and climate change. If we don’t do something (ex: change plane engineering/materials, take less plane trips), global warming will worsen. Even indirectly, travel and transportation is increasingly accelerating climate change through the burning of fossil fuels.
