Meet our Robot

In Star Trek: The Motion Picture (where we got our team name), the "robot" was V-GER 6, so our robot's name last year was V-GER 7, and this year V-GER 8. V-GER is pronounced "VEE-jur", and is short for Voyager, the US space probes launched in 1977 to study our solar system's outer planetary systems, and are now, in 2019, still exploring and sending us data from the outer boundary of the heliosphere in interstellar space !

The technology in our Robot

2019-2020 design starts with a new chassis, with heavy duty mecanum wheels and drive motors mounted out of the way, inside the channels of the chassis frame. We will progressively add features throughout the season, starting with a basic gripper arm for the skystones and ending with a multi-level vertical linear slide assembly to stack stones up to 9 high (we hope!)
