Born in 1995 in Sierra Leone, DePrince went from a war orphan to the youngest ballet star in the Dutch National Ballet and an advocate for greater diversity in ballet. On September 10th, 2024, she passed of unknown causes. She will be remembered for her grace and for her fight.

The Progress Flag was created to include LGBTQ+ members who are of color and/or transgender. This flag allows for greater visibility and representation compared to the original 1978 version of the rainbow flag.

The United States was built on legacies of racism and discrimination, yet the struggles and fights of Natives and communities of color are disregarded in our modern society. This mural aims to educate about the dark history of our nation while advocating for a brighter future for all.

While the CHBC formally operates as a center for youth, it is deeply beloved by the neighborhood surrounding it. While the mural is "watching over with love," the community is watching over the center with love and care.

The outline of this figure is often seen in crime scenes and the mural aims to change the narrative around gun violence. Where bullet holes have entered, roots of remembrance grow for the victims and their families.
As a homage to the humble laundromat in which CHBC got its start, this mural symbolizes a new beginning as a space of resistance and protest through community connection and care.
