You joined Beacon. You are growing familiar with your DTV and the perks and quirks that come along with it, so what comes next? Well, going out on missions, of course!
Beacon members are here to help people from other dimensions, or their own, be it by helping around the Pocket Dimension or venturing out some unfamiliar places to lend a hand, or two, or four, since some things are better in a groups.
Missions are jobs anyone who is part of the company can take that will provide your traveler with some experience and some times goodies, either from slain beasts or someone who is just that grateful for the help, or maybe you just found it while exploring along! Either way, going out on missions comes with rewards for a job well or more or less well done.
Remember, your actions can and will affect the world around you!
GETTING STARTED!
There isn't much you need other than yourself and your guts, however, as per company rules:
- - -
Travelers looking to partake in Missions need some training beforehand! Meaning, you need to complete a prompt from the Welcome To Beacon event. We are not sending you naked and afraid, (not in-character, at least).
Travelers younger than 18 need to be accompanied by an adult for Medium or higher difficulty Missions. This can be an NPC or another traveler (yours or otherwise). Mission will be rolled as normal if it's an NPC. (It's more of an in-character thing.)
Then get yourself your badge and you're ready to go!
MISSION GUIDELINES
Each traveler may only do one mission a week. You cannot take on a new one before finishing your current one.
To finish a mission and have it count as 'Completed', you must submit to the Mission Thread in ToyHouse.
Minimum Requirements: Visual creations (ie. digital & traditional artwork) must submit a colored half-body piece, and literature must submit at least 1,000 words.
You can do them Solo or with a Party, with a maximum of 4 members.
You are able to use items and abilities/spells during missions.
Inventory will be locked at the start of a mission until it's been rolled.
What your character does and how they do will affect the world and may unlock certain 'Milestones' set for each mission.
MIRSTONE MISSIONS
These are more along the lines of volunteer work for The Beacon Company and follow the same guidelines as regular missions, with the exception that there is no need for rolling, you just submit it to the monthly thread and your rewards will make their way over to you!
Minimum Requirements: Visual creations (ie. digital & traditional artwork) must submit a colored half-body piece, and literature must submit at least 500 words.
Milestones? What are those?
They are the results of players' actions in the world! Some may unlock new areas, rps, dungeons, or missions related to them or some may replace a mission entirely upon completion! The world is alive, after all, and there's consequences to the actions characters take, this is a way to show them.
Say, Beacon Members keep pushing back efforts of a bandit gang that keeps trying to rob a town, they will eventually give in and leave that town alone OR they may realize that they need to move on or get better at their job. In turn, this could lock the mission since the bandits will just give up OR open up a new harder one to replace the original.
-
Each Mission page will have a Milestone counter to indicate how close travelers are to the next step or goal, so try them out, see how your character can shape the world around them!
Not all Missions have a Milestone.
And Milestones may vary per Mission.
TAKE A CHANCE, ROLL THE DICE!
Ready? Time to blow on those dice and roll!
Each Mission comes with 3 different rolls to be made that will tell how your little story unfolds. This is where stats, abilities/spells, items, and traits can also come into play.
The rewards and how smoothly everything goes is decided by how these rolls go, if you get 3/3 you'll get all the rewards, 2/3 may loose you some of the goodies and so on, but regardless of whether all of them succeed or not, you will still earn the experience from it.
