Bar Descriptions/Positions
Support (All Bars) - If you like variety and moving around, you may like this position. You will provide support to the Volunteer Bar Managers (shirts with “Bar” on them), as needed. This may include giving bathroom breaks to bar volunteers, jumping behind a busy bar during a peak period, restocking cups or pitchers, filling in if we have a no-show, checking with the Volunteer Bar Managers and inside Cash Bartenders if they need anything, and drinking beer at each bar stop to ensure the product is not foaming and meets quality standards (partly kidding on this last one, otherwise you will end up not performing any of the other bar support duties, LOL).
Tent Beer - Make sure you pay attention that the Bar Schedule designates Inside and Outside tent bars. The Tent Inside bars can see the tent band but these locations can be loud. Tent Beer Stand 4 is a Warsteiner pop-up trailer that is elevated and has a wrap-around bar top.
Tent Schnaps/Mixed Drinks/Wine - These bars can see the tent band but these locations can be loud. These bars are reserved and require German attire, the ability to make a variety of mixed drinks, and work at high speed. You must ask for Kerry or Erich at a GASC Friday night to get approved to work at these spots.
Tent Jager MixedDr & PreMxDr - This bar can see the tent band but this location can be loud. This is a new bar that is being tried out. The Mixed Drinks stations will make simple mixed drinks with Jägermeister or Tequila (e.g Jäger and root beer). A shot glass will be available so you don't have to free pour. The Pre-Mixed Drinks station will serve pre-mixed/ready-to-serve Jägermeister based drinks.
Front Garden Bar - You can see the garden band but this location can often be loud. There is a half-high wall between the beer and mixed drinks/wine sections. The volunteer at the Mixed Drinks station will pour shots or prepare simple drinks, e.g. gin & tonic, from limited basic liquors (vodka, gin, rum, and whiskey). A shot glass will be available so you don't have to free pour. A Volunteer Bar Manager in the area can help if you have any drink questions. Refer patrons who want complicated drinks or special liquors to the Cash Bar inside the Club barroom.
Back Garden Bar & East Fence Garden Bar - These bars are quieter and often less busy than the other bars. There is no wall between the beer and wine section of the Back Garden Bar, so you and your co-volunteer can hang somewhat close together.
Yuengling PT Cruiser Bar - This bar is near the East Garden Fence Bar and is staffed currently by a beer distributor employee who is allowed to take tips.
Cash Bar - This bar is inside the Club and has additional wines, beers, and liquors. This bar is staffed by paid professional bartenders who are allowed to take tips.
