Joseph A Capecchi was born in Florence, Italy near the Medici Chapel. Surrounded by the works of the the renaissance masters he became a student of sculpture. At the age of 16 he emigrated to St Paul, Minnesota to work at the Giuliani Statuary Company. It became the St Paul Statuary Company in 1929 and he served as president until retiring. While never becoming famous, his works are prominently displayed throughout the Midwest. In retirement he spent countless hours in his studio with oil paints.
