Reoccuring Rehearsal Dates - After School Practice
All choir students participate in after school choir rehearsals once a week to extend their music techniques and combine with additional choir students. Rehearsals are required, but accommodations can be made based upon schedule conflicts and other activities students are involved in. Students will need to demonstrate a steady frequency of attending rehearsals to attend events and ensure they're prepared for performances. Students who are involved in sports or other clubs and activities will need to plan their schedules to fairly balance both. All student must be picked up on time after the conclusion of the rehearsal in the front of the school. Please plan accordingly.

03/03/2026 - Musical Theater Night (5th Grade & 6th Grade Musical Theater Students Only - Required Event)
Date: March 03, 2026
Time: 6:00pm Performance (See detailed schedule below)
Location: Canyon Ridge School Café
Attire: Costume (for actors) or All Black (stage crew and technicians)
Information: Students develop a performance of a theater production. Students will need an costume appropriate to their character or role. Please observe the schedule below for the evening performance:
3:00pm - Students are released from school. Students involved in the production should head directly to the Music Room 307/308.
3:00pm - 3:15pm - Students may have a snack and get changed as needed.
3:15pm - 4:00pm - Students and director setup the stage and Café space for the performance.
4:00pm - 5:45pm - Students rehearse the production as one large group on the stage with sound and lights. Our goal is to rehearse the production 2 - 3 times without stopping for consistency. Students will take their position before 5:45pm.
5:45pm - 6:00pm - Audence is welcomed into the Café for seating. All performers will be at their position.
6:00pm - 6:45pm - Performance of the 5th & 6th Grade Production.
6:45pm - 7:00pm - Students help clear the stage and return materials back to the Music Room before departing.

03/07/2026 - Festival of the Arts @ Valley Vista High School - All Choirs (Required Performance for Advanced Choir Members)

Location: The Vista Center for Performing Arts - 15660 N Parkview Pl, Surprise, AZ 85379
Attire: Canyon Ridge Choir Shirt, Jeans or Shorts (depending on the weather), and Sneakers
Information: Dysart School District has the pleasure of hosting a Festival of the Arts for all performing and visual arts in the district. All choirs are required to perform at a specific time on a stage during the event. Students will meet Mr. Hammersmith at a designated spot, warm-up, and perform their music for the community. Before and after the performance, students and families are welcome to attend the festival activities. More information will be presented when the coordinators have completed the planning.
SCHEDULE: PLEASE SEE THE MAP ABOVE TO CONFIRM YOU KNOW OF THE LOCATIONS ABOVE FOR THE EVENT.
11:45am - 11:55am - Families may begin dropping off their student for the performance with Mr. Hammersmith. This is an option for audience members who wish to drop off their student, but not attend the performance and will pick up their student later. Mr. Hammersmith will be standing at the North Parking Lot off Tierra Buena Lane behind the school by the drop off loop near Gate 2. At 11:55am, he'll move towards Stage F to meet other families who are in the Festival already.
11:55am - 12:00pm - Mr. Hammersmith will be standing on the West Side of the campus near Stage F and the Football Field. Students who are being dropped off by families or you're already at the Festival, please Mr. Hammersmith by noon at this location.
12:00pm - All students should be present and checked in with Mr. Hammersmith and ready to head into the warm-up room. Students will wait with Mr. Hammersmith from this point on.
12:20pm - 12:40pm - Warm-Up in Room 1102
12:45pm - 1:00pm - Performance for Advanced Choir on Stage F
After the performance concludes, all students will stay with Mr. Hammersmith until they've met their families and notify me they're departing the group. Students who are being picked up may do so with Mr. Hammersmith by Gate 2 (Behind the campus off Tierra Buena Lane).
If you're picking up your student after the performance on Foot, please do so after the performance concludes (around 12:55pm - 1:00pm).
If you're picking up your student via vehicle, please be near the Tierra Buena Lane parking lot on the North Side of the campus by 1:05pm and be in communication with your student.
All students must be picked up by 1:15pm!

04/02/2026 - Dysart Choir Night @ Arizona Diamondbacks Stadium
Date: April 02, 2026
Location: Chase Stadium Downtown Phoenix
Attire: Canyon Ridge Choir Shirt, Jeans or Shorts (depending on the weather), and Sneakers
Information: Students have the opportunity to sing the National Anthem on the Chase Stadium Field. Students and families will need to purchase tickets prior to the game to participate in this event. Students must be accompanied by an adult during the game and when they watch the game. Students will be with Mr. Hammersmith during the National Anthem performance only. For each ticket sold, Canyon Ridge Choir receives a portion of the ticket amount. A more detailed schedule is located below. Please purchase your tickets with the link provided below as well.
Please note: Chase stadium is a cash-less stadium and only see through bags are permitted. Students may bring a throw-away see-through water bottle.

SCHEDULE:
5:00pm - Gates open at Chase Stadium Downtown. Please stay with your family until you've connected with Mr. Hammersmith.
5:15pm - Meet Mr. Hammersmith outside of Gate J (located on the East Side of the Stadium). You may enter through any gate, but we gather together around Gate J. Please allow extra time for parking, walking, and getting through security.
Once your student is with Mr. Hammersmith, you may go to your seats and enjoy the pre-game and the performance.
Because of traffic this time of day:
If Mr. Hammersmith isn't present because of traffic and parking, please meet by Gate J and wait by the other choir members. Mr. Hammersmith will be along as soon as traffic allows.
If you're late to this meeting time, you're still able to join us. The choir will most likely be by Gate J until about 5:45pm - 6:00pm approximately.
5:20pm - Students are rehearsing together for the performance by Gate J. After their rehearsal, students will stay with me until after their performance.
6:25pm - Approximate time students perform the National Anthem on the Field!
6:30pm - Pick up all student by Gate J where students were dropped off. Mr. Hammersmith will bring them to Gate J for you to pick them up. Once students have been picked up, they must stay with their families for the rest of the event!

04/11/2026 - Arizona Middle School All-State Choir - (Advanced Choir Students - Nomination Based Attendance)
Date: April 11, 2026
Location: TBA
Attire: Canyon Ridge Choir Shirt, Jeans or Shorts (depending on the weather, and Sneakers. Professional all black for the performance.
Information: Students have the opportunity to be nominated and participate in the Arizona Middle School All-State choir. Students will attend a day-long clinic and perform in the late afternoon. This is a unique and rare opportunity if students are accepted. Students who are interested will need to demonstrate correct techniques and dedication to attend this event. It's rated the top choir of the state for the middle school age level. More information will become available as the year progresses and the coordinators develop the schedule.
SCHEDULE: A detailed schedule will be provided once the coordinators of the event present us our schedule.

04/16/2026 - Canyon Ridge School Kindergarten, 1st, & 2nd Grade Performance (All 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grade Choir Members - Optional)

Location: Willow Canyon High School Auditorium
Attire: Choir students should wear their Canyon Ridge Choir shirt, shorts, and sneakers.
Information: As tradition, the Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade classes have their annual performance to demonstrate their musical skills in a performance opportunity. This year, 2nd grade will have the opportunity to sing in choir with our expanded program. In addition to the 2nd grade performance, 3rd and 4th grade choir members will be invited to sing a few of the choir selections they've prepared this school year. This will celebrate the 2nd grade students who took the extra step in 2nd grade to add more music to their lives. More information regarding this event will be presented as we confirm details with the performance venue.

CANYON RIDGE SCHOOL 2026 CHOIR TOUR
The choir tour is our time to celebrate our accomplishments for the school year. This includes a 4-part series of performances for the school, community, and other choirs. This demonstrates learning to present music in varying locations, shaping concerts for different audiences, and adjusting to the challenges presented during a performance. Students who also wish to travel in the upper level choir will have the opportunity to present their work to a professional judging panel. As the details unfold for this trip, please reserve the dates below and we'll present information to you as soon as we can:

*Note - Students who wish to attend the Music in the Parks Competition on May 2nd will require payment to attend. Those prices will be published as soon as the trip costs have been set. We estimate approximately $100 per student which covers transportation, competition fees, music, park pass, and chaperone assistance for the entire day. We'll be providing fundraising opportunities to cover the remainder costs. Please note that no student should feel they can't attend competition because of financial restrictions.
