Donald Trump’s New Low (Editorial)
Donald Trump said something offensive/ misogynistic? Not much of a surprise any more right? Ever since he announced his presidency people have criticised Donald Trump’s tendency to make offensive and misogynistic comments. On June 16, 2015 Donald Trump gave a speech where he stated “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” Ever since that speech the media has picked up on dozens more non-PC comments from Trump. Nothing in the plethora of Trump’s previous speeches is nowhere near as controversial as the video on October 7th, 2016 that contained several minutes of Trump and Access Hollywood host Billy Bush making comments objectifying women. I’m breaking down the video into the most important parts you should hear before making your final decision on who you want to run our country for the next four years.
WARNING: THE FOLLOW QUOTES CONTAIN SEVERAL EXPLETIVES
Most of the video takes place on the “Access Hollywood” production bus in 2005. Both Donald Trump and Billy Bush were not aware that a camera rolling and microphones were on. The following quotes are un-edited and pulled straight from the recording.
Donald: (Talking to Billy Bush about Publicist in front of Bus) “I better use some tic-tacs incase I start kissing her.”
Donald: (Talking to Bush) “When you're a star you can do anything. Grab em’ by the (vulgar name for female genitals). You can do anything.”
Here comes my opinion. What Trump said was in every sense of the word atrocious. His big mouth has let out a lot of cruel and misogynistic comments in the last year but what he said in this video is the proof of the sexist person . Sorry Trump, but your freakishly small hands can't wipe up the blood this time. Trump’s belief that he has the right to grab a woman's genitals at will because of his fame paints a crystal clear image of the racist, sexist, and bigot he is. These comments would be expected from an out-of-touch, conservative, grandfather from the middle of Kansas. But from a presidential nominee? I don't give a shoot that these comments took place 11 years ago. They could have been from when you were 14 years old and I would have the same reaction. Trump needs to learn that the world doesn't revolve around him, and that there is no acceptable apology other than “sorry” that can make people even begin to forgive what he said. His comments almost make me ashamed to be a white male in America because I fear these words may represent the majority of American conservative belief.
