For SJCC, nestled securely within the peaceful green environment of St. Joseph’s Home, this ‘out of the ordinary’ year has been a time of rich possibilities even if somewhat constrained by the strict measures required for the safety of a Nursing Home.

Awareness of human helplessness and absolute need for God’s help, and concern for the increasing spread of the coronavirus pandemic and safety of frontline healthcare personnel – these anxieties moved us to more prayer, both personal and communitarian. We felt ourselves drawn to contemplative silence during the day.

Phone conversations zoom meetings replaced face-to-face encounters. Unable to continue outdoor ministries, creativity took over and untapped God-given talents blossomed! Baking, cooking, artwork resulting in unique art pieces made with recyclable material, gardening, growing bean sprouts and more …
