There is a general consensus that Cannabis effects different people in different ways. This is considered common sense and is usually left at that. From a scientific point of view, we cannot simply accept such statements as truth when based on unexamined assumptions. Others have said that there is too much variability in the expression of cannabis genetics based on the combination of breed and the environmental conditions in which the plants are grown. Instead of taking these statements as fact, investigation is required. A thorough investigation into the phenomenology of Cannabis Effects is due.
Assumptions
1. Cannabis produces Alternate States of Consciousness, changes in the quality of consciousness.
2. The Contents of Consciousness may be loosely described as hallucinations but are not the States Consciousness.
3. Hallucinations are an impoverished concept, a modern bias that don't recognize the significant psychological value of the experiences and insights that appear in those states.
4. The intensity of psychedelic experiences only occasionally results in profound mystical or religious experiences.
5. It is possible that psychedelics and entheogens open us to States of Consciousness and realizations both within the brain and beyond.
6. Alternate States of Consciousness have significant benefits for neurological health, spiritual and psychological growth, person and scientific insight, creativity and cognitive performance enhancements. These need to be explored, understood and charted with modern maps.
