Read At Home: The Gadis Chapter is a one-month virtual literacy campaign that coincided with the "National Month of Literacy" in September and was conducted in collaboration between MYReaders and Taylor’s Girl Up Club - a university club that has now been rebranded as “Dia:Them”.
The campaign's primary objective was to raise awareness about literacy in Malaysia while emphasising the crucial role parents play in the educational journey of their children. To align with Taylor’s Girl Up's overarching vision, participants in the campaign are encouraged to engage with female empowerment-themed books, fostering a reading experience that resonates with the club’s commitment to empowering and educating women, girls and the general public through literature.
We led and executed the campaign by overseeing all aspects including strategic planning, resource allocation, timeline management, and team leadership.
This also includes developing compelling social media content such as posters and relevant infographics to enhance engagement and attract wider participation in the campaign.
During this campaign, we have also successfully engaged with influential figures such as political leaders, Malaysian singers and influencers, ranging from member of the Selangor royal family Tengku Zatashah to former Member of Parliament Maria Chin Abdullah, Malaysian professional squash player Datuk Nicol Ann David and more, to be the campaign’s literacy ambassadors.

Engaged a total of 22 influential individuals, ranging from politicians to singers and influencers, to be the campaign’s ambassadors
To address the lack of easily accessible online female empowerment books, we also initiated an application where writers and illustrators can contribute to the creation of children's stories featuring resilient female characters and stories.
This saw the participation of 30 women writers and illustrators from universities, which resulted in 14 female empowerment-themed books being written and illustrated.
The complete catalog of these books can be found below:
