Can You Download BETTER Atv Trails On A Garmin

Really wish I could rate this app a 0. When I first tried the app without a trailforks account it loaded trails in my area. The minute I created an account and linked my garmin that's when I stopped getting the trails in my area. Yet it has no issues loading trails from other states or countries. I reset my device to factory settings and still doesn't work. Contacted support about a month ago sent proof that it showed me no trails in my area, all I would get was NO ROUTE DATA 4 on my garmin 1030 Plus with software v6.75 which isn't even 2 months old. Was told they would address this with the next update, but try to put blame on garmins update and not their app. Was told I could add the trails via their website which is pretty ridiculous as now you end with a long list of trails that aren't even in order that you have to scroll through instead of just having a whole trail system drop menu within the app. After I was done got an email for a discount on the subscription service. If the app doesn't work during the trial period why in the hell would i subscribe to the paid version knowing it STILL WONT WORK? Well the next update came and went and still getting the same message. I'll update my review if they ever decide to fix the app but doubt they are in a rush to fix it as their fix is them telling you to go to their website and add trails 1 by 1 instead of giving riders a working app. I'll consider subscribing when the app works but in the current state it's in I can't do neither let alone recommend this app.

Hey guys, first time GPS user here. I bought the GPSMAP66ST that comes preloaded with toppo maps. When I go on explore to plan a route, there are no trails displayed on any of the toppo maps. Zero. What am I doing wrong??

Ah, thanks for the reply. I definitely zoomed in as close as I could, nothing. There are trails displayed for local parks but that means very little to me. I was under the impression that all toppo maps should come with hiking trails on them. At least some.

You'll need to pay for, and download the good TOPO maps from Garmin in order to get trail data, especially if you want the device to navigate along those trails. There's a reason you get an entire continent of TOPO maps for $50 over the price of the 66s: those maps are missing a lot of useful data.

Just purchased a topo 24k for an eTrex touch 35 and cannot be more disappointed to see that everything on the map is way old, including point of interests, trails, roads etc (I mean 6 to 7 years old for some of the point of interests I know well - and no restrooms listed anywhere). I have an etrex 32x and the topoactive (half the price) are actually better and cheaper and up to date (lists restrooms and much more up to date point of interests - but even here some are old, but I can live with it).

If you are interested in trails (as opposed to the location of POIs like restrooms), you may get better results by downloading real boots-on-the-ground tracks from crowd-sourced sites such as AllTrails or GaiaGPS. Some of these are free/freemium and others require a subscription.

OpenStreetMaps are the Wikipedia of maps. The public contributes to, confirms, and edits the data on the map. This curation goes for hiking trails too. The maps are regularly updated, and over the last few years have seemed the most accurate in my experience. You can even become a contributor if you like.

These data show the state monitored snowmobiling opportunities, including state trails, trails within state parks, state forests and other state owned lands, as well as snowmobile trails funded through the Grant-In-Aid Snowmobile system. MNDNR receives annual data updates from snowmobile clubs around the state.
