After changing from a Roger's Legacy modem to an Ignite modem my Dell laptop does not recognize any Rogers network ( it sees other locked networks just not Rogers) to get internet even though it was connecting well before the change. All other laptops and computers we have at home, see the new Roger's Ignite network and are able to connect.

Any suggestions how to fix?

Can I Download Rogers Ignite On My Computer

i recently switched to rogers from teksavvy and really miss tek's tech support. Rogers was no help. I talked with them twice about this issue. I can see everyone's wifi network except mine. I was told they had no solution. Second time i asked if swapping my wifi card would work and they said to talk to Dell. I got a TP Link mini wifi usb dongle for my Dell......fired right up....working great. $25 off amazon. Previously rogers said my Dell would only support 2.4g. Now I have both 2.4 and 5. I still have no idea why I can find my printer, my neighbour's and the church next door's wifi......but not rogers. I even tested it at the library....no problem.

Just got Rogers Ignite internet package, and when I get on the computer after sitting idle for a while or overnight, I tend to lose the interconnection which also takes out the TV's and the WIFI, it will eventually reconnect after a few minutes, the odd time I wasn't on the computer and would lose the TV's and wifi connection. Called Rogers tech dept. they did send me a new modem to switch out, but still have the problem, rogers says line signal is good a ticket to further investigate.

Was wondering if there is something to do with the computer itself, such as the WIFI adapter? I have the Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCle. Everything was working great when I was with Bell, but since switching to the Rogers Ignite WIFI Gateway, I've been having these connection issues. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

I filled a "share a concern" form and had a response by the end of the day with a two minute solution. There is a known issue with Realtek WiFi adapters and Ignite Gateway, and was provided with a work around that will work with Realtek adapters only. I had to change the field in the Wireless mode to 802.11g, I guess it only allows the computer to use the 2.4GHz frequency.

@glenn5 @Datalink I honestly don't know what to make of this issue. Over the last few weeks, there have been numerous posts where people complain about their Internet and WiFi dropping daily, or unstable Internet/WiFi after switching to Ignite. That's in addition to reports of Ignite TV constantly cutting out/freezing. Others are more specific, with reports of set-top boxes going offline when their computer connects, or that their WiFi has become unstable after connecting a newly purchased laptop to the network.

Hello! I have a bridged Ignite router for internet service and I use an ASUS router. When the modem is turned of and turned on again, my windows computer never thinks it has lost internet, and when the modem is back on and connected all services fail (mail, web, zoom) saying that they are finding an invalid certificate and the connection is not secure: instead of connecting to the internet they are trying to connect to the modem 10.0.0.1 and the certificate they show instead of the website is a certificate with the name of the rogers ignite modem.

Hello, I felt like I had to share this on the page. I too have been dealing with this issue for well over a month, I have contacted rogers many times to no avail. They said it was "my issue with my device" so they could not help. I almost signed up for Geeksquad which rogers recommened to me. I tried everything that was listed on this page, the last thing I tried was the date/time adjust and it worked!!! I hope this gets passed along in case this happens to other people. Thanks for the info!!

Sure. Connect the modem's coax port to the Rogers network, then power it up. When the modem's status LED turns solid white, connect a computer to the modem using either an Ethernet cable or by WiFi. (The default WiFi network name and passphrase are printed on the bottom.) Using a web browser, go to and log in as admin; the default password is "password".

My options to alter or correct subsequent problems with any setup changes or troubleshooting issues are (a) desktop computer ethernet access to setup, (b) laptop ethernet or wifi access to setup, or (c) tablet with app connected only via wifi (ie; not its own phone service). So the pods work initially and I'm trying to understand what access would be required and why. Does the Hub show the various devices attached including pods, and if one doesn't show as working, then powering it off and on should connect it or its a faulty pod?

The Ignite WiFi Hub app can be used on a tablet once the service has been set up successfully or you can log in on the website (ignitewifi.rogers.com) as well. The pods will show a green status when they are online. If a pod is offline, select the pod followed by Help Me Fix It. Follow the displayed instructions and then Retest Connection.

If you want to stick to configurations that can be installed and managed from a desktop computer, Rogers techs may still carry WiFi Range Extenders in their trucks... although I do not recommend going down that road.

Even if your Windows 8.1 computer can get network connectivity, you should still seriously consider replacing it (or perhaps look into running Linux on it instead) especially now that Microsoft has stopped issuing security updates.

A few weeks ago Discord could be seen under the Active section when my son was on his computer along with YouTube. It show "x" amount of hours for each.

Now it's been a week and Discord does not show anymore and YouTube says only 5-10 mins. However his connection to the router says 15-17 hrs.

How can he hide the website? He doesn't have the password to the router and I changed it from the standard default does a VPN on his personal computer mask Discord from ignites Active times?

As well, he changed to a new computer because a different IP address popped up and his old computer doesn't connect to the router anymore.

He sleeps all day and is up all night.

When he changed to a new computer, did you add that computers IP address to his profile. I'm assuming that you're using the new Ignite system with the Comcast XB6 or XB7 modem. The only way to block any traffic to that new computer would be to change his profile.

Not 100% sure that the rogers time controls work exactly that way @Datalink, at least from experience.

We have my son's stuff set up.. there is a cut off from 8:30 to 9 (to make sure he realizes to go to school)

As well as a 9:30-Midnight to make sure he goes to sleep.

While if he was streaming something, might get a min or two out of it due to whats buffered.. it does completely cut him off from active connections to thing, as well as starting new things. The device does show still connected to wifi, etc. Just wont connect to anything.

My guess, is it blocks off ANY/ALL connections through that devices MAC address.

Assuming that the person doesnt change their MAC address, that part of the controls, as long as the device is added to the right 'profile' which has the controls, should still work.

Any of the OTHER stuff though.. that might be a different story? The Discord traffic, etc.. if using a VPN, it might not be seeing that specific packet data to be able to track it, etc.

But, having a VPN on, shouldnt change the the complete stopping of the internet, etc through the controls.. as even with the VPN, the same MAC is connecting to the router.

Apparently, some newer computers (with Wi-Fi 6 chipsets?) were triggering resets on the Technicolor XB6 gateways when they connected on the 5 GHz band, and the recommended workaround was to configure the computer to connect only on the 2.4 GHz band.

You wrote " I had to change the field in the Wireless mode to 802.11g..." I am not that computer savvy and wondered where I would go to do that. Is that a setting somewhere on my PC or is it on the actual modem? Whatever help you can provide would be much appreciated.... could you please send along whatever info you have to me at this address? - (email address removed - Keep personal info private - RogersMoin) Thanks in advance!

2. Change it to bridge mode and disconnect your laptop while the modem is rebooting. (This could be the issue, if your computer is still connected after a reboot, your PC will get the public ip and then rogers will not give you a 2nd one). If this happens power cycle the rogers box.

If you are already using the Orbi's in Access point mode, you have to switch them to Router mode before connecting it to the rogers bridge mode modem, otherwise some random device on your network will get the public (internet ip) instead. 17dc91bb1f
