Note
If you take a pre-college class, make an appointment with the Admissions Representative to have them discuss what it takes to be accepted to their school; what they want to see in a portfolio; and if you have some portfolio pieces already, ask them to give you feedback so that you can take classes to improve where needed.
Even if you don’t take a pre-college class, do this with the art schools you are considering. Their feedback is invaluable and can be applied to any school you apply to. Many of these can be done virtually.
If possible, tour a few of your top schools to get a sense of how they do this program. It’s important to know what resources they have for students, what quality work the students produce, what industry connections the school has, etc. You’ll naturally find yourself gravitating towards certain features that are important to you.
