Practical Teamwork and Collaboration -
This class will feature hands-on-tasks that will test students' abilities to collaborate together in a more fast-paced environment. Teams will improve fine motor skills as well as listening and following directions from counselors.
How to effectively recognize/utilize aptitudes -
This Class will teach students how to recognise strengths in others. In addition, they will gain an ability to best utilize each strength in a group project/discussion. They will also learn potential blindspots for each strength to prevent miscommunication.
Problem Solving -
Upon entering this class, students/counselers will receive a slip of paper with their role on it. These cards are meant to replicate some problems real-world leaders are faced with (ex: A person who doesn't make eye contact or a person who disagrees with everything). The group will be given a task to solve despite these challenges.
Being Smart with AI -
Teach ideas of using AI as an assistant rather than a cheating device, introduce topics such as choosing the right AI for your goal, using AI to study, and how to use AI to better yourself
Time Management -
Wish you just had more time for school/extracurricular? Chances are, all you need is to more effectively use the time that you have. At the end of this connection class, students will utilize skills to make better use of their time, decrease stress, and improve overall mood.
Resume Building
Resume Building -
Introduce the concept of a resume, and how to make your accomplishments stand out. Use 10 emojis to tell your "story", explain the impact of numbers and where to use them, and help students practice creating a general resume
Introduce ideas of creating resumes specialized for your goals (college, job, etc.) and how to write and format your resume.
What to do to make your application to a job or college memorable and "next-level". Assesses students' core focuses and interests and gives them ideas on how to maximize their potential
Marketing -
The Greatest Pen Ever: Marketing 1 -
An introduction that focuses on 'on the spot' pitching and marketing products that the students have never seen before. Ties into public speaking skills and serves to create a student-defined understanding of what marketing actually consists of. Basic logistics of the marketing may be explained, with an activity that forces the students to appeal to various, conflicting, audiences. Helps develop a comfort with debate and public speaking skills, as well as the ability to pivot when an audience member may disagree. The 'so what' of marketing, combining skills taught in core classes and applying the ability to speak about yourself in terms of 'marketing' towards colleges. Builds language and public speaking skills.
