Caminantes derived from the HSI Caminos Project, a five-year grant that began in Fall 2018 and ended in Spring 2022. Rooted in culturally aware pedagogy, Caminos aimed at addressing Latinx students' obstacles while becoming educators and providing support throughout their academic journey. Despite the end of the grant funding, the need to support Latinx students in the College of Education remained. After careful thought and consideration about how to best support this community, creating a student-led organization was deemed to be the best fit.
