I'd consider it a hard match up thanks to the recent buffs, this could change very fast or stay the same way for long.
*Patch 8.6 Introduced a new rune for bruisers called "Conqueror" Don't have enough experience with this rune or any data to place it in the guides, you'll have to try it out yourself and see how it works*
-Arcane Comet
This would definitely by a good option since Darius usually lucks sustain and doesn't get too tanky before getting Black Cleaver. Arcane Comet let's you stay away from him and poke from a safe distance.
note Darius is a juggernaut so fighting him after early game might become very tough, this is a good choice if you want to shut him down early while your team scales so they can help you later on
-Aftershock Personally, Aftershock won't help you much in fighting Darius, this does not mean that it's a bad option. Aftershock let's you give up the laning phase to get some advantage in mid-late game during skrimishes and team fights.
Aftershock sure may block some of his Q or AA+W dmg but you have to note his E has %armor penetration lowering your resistances from Aftershock by a lot. Most of his damage comes from his passive and ultimate which won't be lowered by your Aftershock because 1) his passive lasts longer 2) his ultimate deals TRUE damage.
Definitely a good option if your team doesn't already have 2 tanks, if that's the case I would opt into Arcane Comet
-Phase Rush note this is a presonnal opinion and doesn't have a good sample size (2 games) so take it with a grain of salt
Definitely not the smartest choice, BUT if you have played the match up really often and you're able to abuse his weaknesses then this is still an option. Phase Rush let's you stay on top of your enemy making your all-ins without ult much easier, in this match-up helps you dodge his outer Q giving you more trade potential.
I would consider taking Phase Rush if you have a great knowledge of the matchup and enemy team has strong slow potential (Thresh ult, Cho'Gath Q, Malphite Q E, Xin W and others)
ALSO IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER RUNES ARE OFTEN A PREFERENCE CHOICE BECAUSE ALL OF THEM OFFER DIFFERENT PLAYSTYLES SO DIFFERENT RUNES MAY SUIT DIFFERENT PLAYERS BETTER
Some things I usually focus on are:
- Does Darius have Q (may use it on minions)
- Does Darius have his Ultimate up (COOLDOWN: 120 / 100 / 80)
- Do I have enough damage to kill him even if he heals with Q?
- What are his items? can I still win? When am I going to be stronger again?
Using this few questions you can push playing Camille to the limit. Try to trade often when Darius uses his Q (COOLDOWN: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5) on minions or when he completely misses his E (COOLDOWN: 24 / 21 / 18 / 15 / 12) and have no way to pull you back in.
In this first clip I'm playing Phase Rush and I've already gained an advantage thanks to Lee Sin ganks and good wave managment. I know that Darius is Level behind me (worse basic stats) and has bought only tier 1 boots (but I'm faster thanks to Q and Phase Rush) I also have double buffs to slow him down with red buff and win an extended fight thanks to red buff's burn effect. Thanks to all this information I decide to all in and secure an easy kill on Darius.
Here you can see Darius having bought Tabi Ninja and already hit level 6, meaning he's very dangerous and could potentially get a kill on me. I did not respect that and got killed because of it. You can also see how devastating his E is for Camille, because when you want to get a short trade he can just pull you back in and extend the fight.
Even tho I have 2 levels advantage over him I should respect his power spike and thanks to match up knowledge wait with my advantage untill I buy Trinity Force or untill another Lee Sin gank. Note how he wins even without hitting me with the outter Q. What you should do is probably just use your E to your escape instead of engage. If you don't save your E then he's most likely going to abuse it and win an extended fight.
First you need to look at your options: note I'm not telling you to buy this items yet!
- Ninja Tabi
- Tiamat
- Executoners Calling
- Rushing Trinity Force
So let's just quickly debunk a few things:
This item sure helps versus Darius a lot but usually only in later stages of the game. Early game if you build this item he's going to out damage you even without his heal. Try getting it after your Trinity force.
Just like with Aftershock this doesn't look like a good option early on in the game because most of Darius' damage comes from his passive and ultimate. The tankiness this boots provide is not going to help you win a fight. Consider taking them when your team is winning and you haven't gotten an advantage on top lane so you can safely farm under tower.
This is one of Camille's favourite items but I would buy it only after you get some advantage over Darius. If you are ahead you can focus on pushing top waves and roaming to mid lane/jungle to help out your team. If you ever but Tiamat when playing versus Darius it's NOT the best decision to stay in lane and try to fight him.
Usually when my team is winning and I have an advantage this is what I build. Fast Sheen/Phage help you in dueling this juggernaut and get you closer to your big power spike that is Trinity Force. This is also a good option when you're losing top lane and your team doesn't seem to win their lanes. In moments like this you need your power spike as fast as possible to try and get back into game.
TRADING PATTERNS
Trading with Darius is really problematic. You can't stay in for a longer fight because that's when Darius shines, you also would like to hit both Q's. You need to be really careful and hold your E until he uses his pull. Your usual combo should look like:
You can see similar pattern during from this Cuvee's gameplay versus Darius
What you should avoid doing is GOING IN WITH YOUR E this will most likely get you killed or waste your flash. Only do that when you want to ALL IN.

Although it's an old gameplay, not much has changed since. You can still see how he plays the matchup.
Try to focus on his wave management, choosing time to trade and general positioning during laning. Every time he's doing something or he isn't doing something you need to ask yourself WHY and try to find a reasoning for this. In my opinion it's the best way to remember that type of things, when you notice them by yourself.
