All about Camellias, https://youtu.be/8TMM1jEM-M0
The CAMELLIA is among the most spectacular of the broad-leaved evergreens. They are native to China & Japan where trees sometimes reach 40' tall! In this country, camellias rarely exceed 15' (even after 20-25 years).
Their flowers, 2"-9" across, make them the pride of Southern gardeners. The blossoms may be pink, red, white, or combinations of those colors. They vary from those with a single row of petals to double forms.
Camellias became the height of fashion as a corsage flower in the 1940's. The first Camellia Festival was celebrated in 1945 with vast floats filled with flowers. Other festivals followed during the 1940's and 1950's.
Camellias always bring good fortune! Not only are they emblems of love, but they are also lucky - especially when presented to a man. Each colored blooms symbolizes/means something when given/received:
Pink = "I long for you" / Feminine energy
Red = "You are the flame of my heart" / Unpretending excellence
White = Purity, Innocence, Perfected loneliness or Mourning.
