As an administrator for twenty years I gained the experience and knowledge required to operate an award winning school. UCS earned the California Distingusihed School Award in 2013. This was the last time it was awarded to any school from LUESD. A major reason for this recognition was the work of students, staff and parents. I value the input of the community. I know that not everyones ideas can be implemented but all can be heard. I believe that it is important for people to be heard. As your school board member I will continue to listen and make decisions that build upon common growth. Lemoore schools should be a destination not a limitation.
In my role as a teacher for over ten years I experienced many different levels of student behavior in the classroom. I worked with parents and teacher teams to provide a safe learning environment in my class. As an administrator I continued to seek solutions which focused on improving behaviors while maintaining a safe enviornment for learning. I was not perfect and did make mistakes along the way. It was learning from these mistakes which helped us develop a positive culture in our school. It is this knowledge and experience I will use as your board member to help build the trust you deserve from your governing school board.
The role I held as the Charter School Dean included managing the whole budget for the school. Over the years I worked directly with the district Chief Business Officer to establish a positive budget and provide unique opportunities for UCS students. The services and resources a district provide and the funds used are a reflection of their priorities. As a teacher I would ask myself, "How does this action benefit my students?" As an administrator I would ask my staff, "Is this what is best for students?" As your board member my focus will be students and how the funds support them directly. Planning for a fiscally sound future.
