Students with high self efficacy feel in complete control of their learning, they look forward to learning activities and feel like they are directing their educational journey. Students with high self efficacy are confident in their academic abilities and believe in higher achievement, they can learn. A student with high self efficacy knows they must continue to work hard for higher achievement and is never too discouraged by a poor grade. A student with learned helplessness exhibits a growth mindset.
A student with learned helplessness feels like they have very little control over their learning, the teachers give them assignments and then gives them grades. A student with learned helplessness is convinced they are the problem, they cannot learn. A student with learned helplessness feels stuck in place academically, even if they perform well on a learning activity they attribute it to unstable causes, not to be repeated.
