Effective Teaching Methods

According to Schraw et al., the following are effective teaching methods that can be implicated in the classroom: inviting students to challenge by choice, carefully selecting texts or reads that are genuinely meaningful for learning to take place, and providing students with help to further expand their knowledge of the material or given texts.

Triggered Situational Interest

Phase 1 consists of short term, external support that depends on the environment 

Maintained Situational Interest

Phase 2 consists of a longer period of time, persistence, with external support from the environment, and is meaningful 

Emerging Individual Interest

Phase 3 consists of long term, internal support with positive motivation and curiosity 

Well-Developed Individual Interest

Phase 4 consists of long term internal support with positive motivation, curiosity, and seeking out questions and answers
