What Can Ms. Wormwood Do?

Teaching with intent

If Ms. Wormwood were to not only teach the content to her students but explain to them why they are learning what they are learning and how it pertains to their lives or education as a whole, the students would make more real-life connections. It could pique their interests better than before. Examples of this are making sure that your students are aware of the standards of your subject so they can better grasp why they need to learn how to skip, jump, and leap in Physical Education. It promotes progression.

Teaching by modeling

If Ms. Wormwood was to model during her teaching, especially in the cognitive domain, she would be targeting her student's thinking that directs their behaviors while they are engaged in an activity or lesson. Examples of this relating to Physical Education are "explanation, demonstration". There are multiple different learning styles that teachers must cater to while teaching a classroom full of different students. By modeling with demonstration, you are setting your students up for success by showing them what's expected of them while also telling them what is expected of them.

Allowing students to have a choice in their education is key. Implicating student choice in the classroom is a great example of utilizing intrinsic motivation.Â
