Interest Theory
Interest is described as a motivated behavior that develops and deepens with engagement, developmentally, interest and engagement. (Hidi & Renninger, 2006)
Interest Theory, in education, is a belief that teachers who tap into their students' interests and apply them in school should see better achievement. The route to capturing that student's interest starts with trying to connect school work with the value that students see in their lives. Throughout this website, we will dive into the elements that make up interest theory, how we see these elements within students, and how we can use this theory to become better teachers.
