Please note that the observatory will only be open if the weather permits. We need a clear, cloudless sky to view objects through the telescope. If you are unsure whether we will be open, please check the home page. This will be updated ~30 minutes before each observing session.
Click on the drop-downs to read out observing conditions on the real-time graph below!
Cloud Cover: How cloudy will the sky be when I visit the observatory?
Seeing: Will we be able to make out much detail on nearby objects? Will they look like they're "rippling"?
Humidity: What will the ground-level humidity be like? Will there be fog at the observatory?
The GOES-18 satellite enables us to view cloud cover over the Pacific west coast in live time. Check this website prior to attending a session to see how likely it is that we will be clouded out! You can access the live animation loop by clicking the image to the left.
