In plain language: Calmgate helps you manage your screen time. It uses Apple's Screen Time APIs to shield apps you choose. You're in control — the app works for you, not the other way around.
By downloading, installing, or using Calmgate ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Calmgate is a digital wellness application that provides the following features:
App Shielding: Displays a breathing intercept screen when you open apps you've chosen to monitor, using Apple's Screen Time API.
Scroll Budget: A daily interaction budget system that helps you limit mindless app usage.
Focus Sprints: Timed focus sessions that reward you with additional interactions when completed.
Statistics & Tracking: On-device tracking of your screen time habits, streaks, and progress.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Calmgate. The App uses Apple's FamilyControls framework in individual (non-parental) mode and is designed for personal use.
Calmgate requires Screen Time authorization (FamilyControls) to function. By granting this permission, you authorize the App to display shield overlays on apps you have selected, monitor aggregate usage duration, and temporarily restrict access. You can revoke this permission at any time through your device's Settings. Revoking permission will automatically remove all app shields.
When you shield apps through Calmgate:
The shielding is designed as a mindful friction tool, not an absolute lock. You can always choose to open shielded apps by tapping "Open [App] Anyway" on the shield screen.
Calmgate is not a parental control tool. The shields are self-imposed and can be bypassed by the user at any time.
We recommend not shielding critical system apps (Phone, Settings, Messages) as this may interfere with essential device functions.
Calmgate offers a Premium subscription that unlocks additional features. If you choose to subscribe:
Payment: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Management: You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
Refunds: Refund requests must be directed to Apple as all payments are processed through the App Store.
Calmgate is a digital wellness tool, not a medical device or therapeutic service. The App is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any mental health condition, addiction, or medical issue.
All content and design in Calmgate are owned by us. You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, use the App for any unlawful purpose, or attempt to circumvent or manipulate the subscription system.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Calmgate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, nor are we responsible for any consequences resulting from apps being shielded or unshielded.
All your data is stored locally on your device. We do not maintain backups of your data. If you delete the App or reset your device, your Calmgate data will be permanently lost.
