Calmgate ("the App") is a digital wellness application designed to help you manage your screen time and build intentional phone habits. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
Calmgate processes the following types of data entirely on your device:
Screen Time Data: The App uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettings) to monitor and manage your app usage. Apple provides this data as opaque tokens — the App never sees the actual names or identifiers of the apps you use. All processing happens locally on your iPhone.
Usage Statistics: Estimated scroll counts, focus sprint durations, daily streaks, and session history are calculated and stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Preferences: Your scroll budget, bedtime schedule, selected apps to shield, and other settings are stored securely on your device.
Subscription Status: If you purchase a Premium subscription, your purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives only your anonymous subscriber ID and purchase receipt — never your personal information.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information.
We do not track your location or browsing history.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Facebook SDK).
We do not send your screen time data or behavioral data to any server.
We do not sell or share your data with anyone.
Calmgate uses Apple's Screen Time framework, designed with privacy as a core principle. Shield overlays are rendered by Apple's sandboxed system extensions with no network access. Usage monitoring is handled by Apple, and Calmgate only receives aggregate time-based thresholds.
If you grant notification permission, Calmgate may send local notifications (e.g., breathing exercise reminders). These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device — they are not sent through any external push notification service.
Calmgate is designed for individual use by users aged 13 and older. The App uses Apple's FamilyControls framework in individual mode (not child/parental control mode). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Because all your data is stored locally on your device, there is no data for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end. You can delete all of your data at any time simply by deleting the App from your device.
