CalmaNote is developed and published by VIAMIK Studio (Portugal). This policy describes the current version of CalmaNote for Android and iPhone. It will be updated before any analytics, advertising, accounts, payments or server features are added.
Summary
CalmaNote works on your phone. It has no account, no cloud, no advertising and no analytics. VIAMIK Studio does not receive your notes, your codes or your encryption keys.
Information stored by the app
CalmaNote stores notes, shopping lists, attached files, completion marks, language and app settings locally on your device, in encrypted storage. There is no CalmaNote cloud account.
Microphone and speech recognition
Microphone access is requested only when you start voice input. Speech is turned into editable text; CalmaNote does not keep an audio recording. When on-device recognition is available, speech is processed on the phone. If it is not available, the app asks your permission before using the speech recognition service of your phone's operating system (Google on Android, Apple on iPhone), which may process the audio under its own privacy terms. Notes in the private section allow on-device recognition only.
Photos and files
CalmaNote opens your photos or files only when you choose one to attach to a note, and saves a file to your phone only when you ask it to.
Sharing and clipboard
Copying or sharing a note happens only when you do it. Once information is sent to another app, that app's privacy practices apply. Text copied from the private section is removed from the clipboard after a short time where the platform allows it.
Backups and transfer
CalmaNote offers an optional backup that you start yourself: you choose a password and the app creates one encrypted file with your notes. The file is handed to your phone's share sheet; CalmaNote does not upload it anywhere. If the password is forgotten, nobody can decrypt the file, including VIAMIK Studio. Restoring a backup adds its notes to those already on the device and never deletes existing notes.
On Android, automatic system backup of the app's data is turned off. On iPhone, iOS may include the app's data in a device backup that you manage (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), under Apple's terms; the data stays encrypted by CalmaNote.
Without a backup, removing the app or losing the device makes locally stored notes impossible to recover.
Data collected by VIAMIK Studio
None. The app makes no network requests of its own (on Android it has no internet permission at all), contains no advertising or analytics, and does not send your content to VIAMIK Studio.
Security
CalmaNote uses the device's protected key storage and authenticated encryption. No software can guarantee absolute security; keep your phone's system and screen lock up to date and do not share your private-section code.
Children
CalmaNote is a general productivity tool, not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect children's personal information.
Changes
This policy may change when the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
