Welcome to the first blog post about Have they awoken, this first post will cover the basic's of the project and not go into much technical detail, the next post will contain the technical information and more information about the project in general.Â
Have they awoken is a surreal psychological horror that tackles serious topics such as: Abuse, alcoholism, self-harm, suicide, depression, anxiety and psychosis. The aim of the project is to bring awareness of these issues while making sure not to glorify the topics, under-represent the issues, and, offend those that suffer with those conditions. The narration of the project will be surreal while also using an unreliable narrator to make the experience more confusing and horrifying for the player, by playing on the innate fear all humans experience, the fear of the unknown, the player will not know if what the character is experiencing is real, or merely a figment of the main characters' imagination, creating an uncertainty that will constantly plague on the player's minds, while also ensuring that there is enough risk and hazards to make the player not just brush everything off as fake and harmless.
The project is being developed using: Unity, Aseprite & Blender. More software may be used further in development.

Have they awoken? Is a horror game developed by: Team Draia, which is a development duo by Xhaia and Dragunda. The project is a surreal psychological horror that contains truly mind-bending, anxiety driving, existential horror. The aim of the project is to create a truly terrifying piece of art that will linger in the minds of the players for years, not only because of the overall gameplay, but because of the mysteries and unanswered questions that will remain in the players heads.
This is the contents of the design document in it's current stage.
Most of the headings are empty, however those with extra-subheadings have been filled with writing/diagrams showcasing the mechanics and features.
The contents page will become a tool to report my progress within the blog posts, and, therefore will be included on each blog post to showcase the design document's progress, that is until the project or design document is finished and released to the public.
The next post will include the progress in-engine and a more in-depth look into the systems currently being designed, a deep dive into some of the more complete sections of the design document and an update on the contents page.
