The Calls For Comfort is a warmline that provides a friendly listening ear to anyone who may need it.
This is not a hotline. In case of a crisis, please call 911.
A warmline is run by peers who are willing to lend a kind ear. “Peer” run, means you will not be labeled or treated as “other.” Warmline volunteers are simply here to hold space for you, through empathy and compassion. They bear no responsibility towards you, the people in your life, or the situation you are in - either during or after your call. Warmline volunteers are required to report based on the requirements of the law of the land. Warmlines support people from all walks of life facing challenges that may be multifold and/or multidimensional. They are meant to foster a human connection. Most importantly, they are intended to help people manage their concerns, before the occurrence of the crisis point for them.
A warmline can be used to provide support for, but is not limited to:
emotional well-being
physical ailments
postpartum
addictions
parents
children
spouse
family (immediate, extended, in-laws)
friends
community
financial
resources
celebrate an accomplishment
help you calm down
talk about things
get a different perspective
brainstorm
have someone listen to you
have someone hold space for you
help you feel validated
help you think through things
chitchat
reassure you
vent
be present for you
discuss daily struggles
and much, much more.
It is unfortunate that despite the obvious value of warmlines, many people - even those involved with therapy and other mental health services - do not know what a warmline is, or that they even exist.
Please help us spread the word about the Calls For Comfort warmline to everyone - we all have a need to be heard!
