1) Shinshoji Temple
This temple, known as one of the Edoroku Jizouson (six Jizou guardians of Edo), is officially called Iouzen Toko-in Shinshoji Temple of the Shingon Buzan sect. The date of the temple’ s establishment is unclear. There is a monument bearing a haiku by the poet Matsuo Basho, dated 1615, within the precincts. The Jizou statue wears a large umbrella-like hat, and carries a staff. Standing at the entrance to the Six Highways of Edo, the Jizou guardian protected the safety of travelers. (Sugamo was the entrance to the Nakansen-do highway).
2) Sugamo Shopping street
Famous Japanese sweets (Shio-Daifuku), Accesarry shop etc.
3) The Arai kannon
Guest will wash Kannon body and pray good health and long life.
The ``Arai Kannon,'' which is said to improve the health of areas that are washed with water, is widely worshiped as a side attendant of the main image, Togenuki Jizo. It was originally a stone statue built as a memorial service for Kiheiji Yanaya, a Buddhist monk who lost his wife in the great fire of Meireki in Edo, but the ritual of washing it with water and washing it naturally took hold.
4) Rikugien, Huge Japanese garden
Guest will get on Taxi and come to the garden from Sugamo station. It is about 10 minutes ride.
Since the time of its construction, Rikugien has been considered one of the two great gardens of Edo, along with Koishikawa Korakuen. In the 8th year of Genroku (1695), Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa himself designed and directed the land in Komagome, which was given to him as a residence by the fifth shogun, Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, and dug a pond in a corner of flat Musashino and built a mountain. Over the years, we have created a ``circular rock garden with spring water''.
Rikugien is a delicate and gentle Japanese garden that reflects Yoshiyasu's deep literary knowledge.
Guest will go to Komagome station.
