RIO GRANDE
The Albuquerque Railroad Fair took place in May at the State Fairgrounds. Many vendors and seven layouts participated, including the Rio Grande Model Railroad Club, our Division 6 Youth Club.
Also in May, the New Mexico Rail RunNers N-Scale Club traveled north to Cheyenne for the Sherman Hill Train Show. They displayed a 25' X 40' layout, which included "Disneyland" and Cheyenne Yard, circa 1959.
Railfanning along the BNSF Transcon from Mountainair to Belen was the Division 6 activity for July, with lunch and meeting at Pete's in Belen, across from the Harvey House and Belen BNSF yard.
Upcoming events in the Division 6 region include the following:
September 24 - Open House for the ATSF #2926 Steam Locomotive (under restoration)
October 22-23 - Tucumcari Railroad Days - HO and N-Scale layout in the Depot
November 19-20 - Rails Along the Rio Grande Train Show at the Sid Cutter Pavilion in Balloon Fiesta Park
Rio Grande Division 6 meetings are held on the second Saturday of the odd-numbered months at North Domingo Baca Multicultural Center, 7521 Carmel N.E. at 1:00 pm. The next meeting will be September 10th.
