27th Rocky Mountain Region Master Model Railroader!

Congratulations to Jim Wanlass of Northern Utah, the newest and 27th Master Model Railroader of the Rocky Mountain Region.  Jim is the first RMR MMR I have had the privilege to award during my current stint as Region Achievement Program Chair.  It has been a pleasure to be on the final approval end, reviewing the remarkable and outstanding work that Jim has accomplished.  As some of you have seen, Jim has begun publishing his MMR journey in the NMRA Magazine.  I am looking forward to the rest of Jim’s series articles on his successful quest.

Golden Spike Awards

We have doubled the amount of Golden Spikes awarded from last quarter.  Division AP and Program Chairs, as you line up layout tours this year, several of those layouts are no doubt great candidates for Golden Spikes, so take note and help get those members to send in their submittal.

Achievement Program Certificates

We are maintaining our average number of certificates from last quarter, and I am starting to see some different members complete their AP requirements.  These certificates are a symbolic way of our organization honoring and recognizing only a representation of your work, efforts, and contributions to the NMRA, the hobby, and to others.

Merit Awards

Naturally we have a huge drop-off in Merit Awards this quarter, since the previous quarter was dominated by the Pike’s Peak or Bust Convention Regional Model Contest.  I would like to remind all Division AP chairs, that all judged models that achieve 87.5 points are higher are eligible for a Merit Award certificate from the Region.
