Detectives must follow up on crime reports with workable leads or those that constitute part of an ongoing criminal investigation. We secure, process, and dispose of physical evidence as well as establish and maintain liaisons with other law enforcement agencies, community members, and the LA County Charters Office.

The Operation Safe Streets Bureau is a specialized branch under the Major Crimes Bureau subdivision.

O.S.S.B. is dedicated to eradicating the scum of the city known as violent and organized crime from the communities and neighborhoods of the city of Los Angeles. The missions of O.S.S.B. are to dismantle, disrupt and stomp out organized criminal enterprises through strategic, deceiving and intelligence-driven operations involving Local Law Enforcement departments and offices, and Federal Agencies
