About me

Born in sunny San Diego California in 1984. Mr. Ortega's martial arts journey started in the small town of Ramona  California in 1993 where he studied Tang Soo Do with Master Steve White.

In 2005 he had moved to Oceanside California and studied Choy Li Fut kung fu with Sifu Dennis Smith.

Moving back to Ramona yet again in 2007 he continued his studies of kung fu at a Northern Mantis school which became his primary method of fighting and still practices till this day.

At this time he is still training in Vista California with Sifu Kenneth Edwards at the Northern Eagle kung fu school. Sifu Edwards is best known for his roll in 1995's film Mortal Kombat. 

Some people ask what got me into martial arts. I remember at a young age hearing about Bruce Lee and that he was the greatest of all time.

But what truly kick started me into martial arts was four cool brothers, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shortly after that was the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Mortal Kombat.  

And what inspiried me to become a teacher was the show Cobra Kai. That show came out at just the right time and Johnny Lawrence knew just the right things to say to get me motivated.
