I often find myself bored playing modern games.
Many friends have heard my spiel about how I despise a long list of tabletop games. The reasons why often boil down to their win condition being entirely random, an overly repetative strategy, or a distinct lack of balance.
That being said, I occasionally take it upon myself to create something of my own. Some- including my beloved Notchess- are listed below.
Previously known as Faction Chess, Notchess uses a standard chess set to create a 2 to 4 player variation where each individual can "build" their own faction with a unique theme in terms of movements and rules.
My main goal is to balance these factions in a way that prevents a rock paper scissors dillema. Playtesting is currently ongoing.
Notable changes in this version:
There are no checks or checkmates.
Kings and Queens function the same and are labeled as Royalty.
The game only ends when one player is the last with Royalty alive.
The Game With No Name is a standard deck card game that I host, where you only know the following:
You learn the rules by playing or watching others play The Game.
You are told when you have won or lost a round.
The Game With No Name can be won after three successful rounds have been completed.
There can only be one winner per year, per Game Master- which is a title obtainable only by beating the game.
Money can be won if playing with antes for prize money.
I have hosted this game while traveling across the Unites States and thus far, only a handful of individuals have come close to victorious. Their detication is quite admirable.
