We have two main areas of research!
Computational Microbiology
Using bioinformatics to analyze protein-protein interactions (PPIs) in the human gut microbiome. We aim to uncover the biochemical properties of predicted PPIs between gut bacteria and host cells through computational modelling. This information will allow us to generate data that can be used for therapeutic purposes, such as in precision medicine.
Biology Education Research
Analyzing how students’ research and mentoring experiences influence career development. Our goal is to comprehensively investigate the features of research, mentoring, and other extracurricular experiences that influence students' confidence and preparedness for careers. This data will inform evidence-based practices that can lead to future success for our students.
