Malaria: A global public health concern (Aug 2017 – Jan 2018)
Senior project for B.S. in Biology. Researched malaria extensively in scientific literature databases, then synthesized information into a cohesive scientific paper and presentation given in front of peers and faculty members
Effects of stress on working memory (Jan 2018 – May 2018)
Senior project for B.A. in Psychology. Worked with a team of undergraduates to design and develop an experimental study that looked at the relationship between cold pressor-induced stress and working memory. Using the Alpha Span Task to assess working memory, we found that stress may impair working memory. Our study was later presented at the Eastern Psychological Association's 2019 regional meeting in New York City
Research Assistant (Aug 2017 – May 2018)
Worked on a scientific research team lead by Dr. Frederic J. Brenner, an expert in the field. Analyzed and identified different ticks retrieved from Western PA. Used PCR to test ticks for Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria. Gained experience in vector-borne disease surveillance.
