It took about three weeks to activate my own starter. It was slightly discouraging at first. I thought, "Can I really do this?" I've always loved baking and cooking, but this seemed harder than I had imagined. I kept thinking back to an influencer I saw on TikTok who said, "Trust the process." So I kept up my daily feeding regimen, and by the 24th day it was finally ready to make a loaf of bread!
After some time, and lots of practice, I asked the community if they would stop by and taste some bread if I had a sample day. My post on Nextdoor received more than 15k views in just a couple days! The response was overwhelming. Before I knew it, people were asking to buy bread. I wasn't even ready for that yet. But the support was incredible.
After much thought, I decided not to turn this into a regular business. My family and I love to travel, and we love our time together. Making bread on a daily, or even weekly basis would take up more time than I'm willing to give at the moment. But I still love to make it. So I decided to bake bread twice a month, and make a limited number of items available to order on a donation basis. Donations help pay for the ingredients, bread making supplies, and utilities. This allows me to keep the love of bread making alive, and also to spend time with my family.
We hope you get a chance to taste our products soon. The order form is available here. If the window is closed for ordering right now, check back in a few days. Our homepage shows the upcoming Bread Days and order cutoff dates.
Again, thanks for checking us out!
