COACHING OVERVIEW
Find coaching assignments and sign-up links for 2022-23 in the CAELI COE Fellowship Coaching Overview for 2022-23
In order to help fellows best achieve the outcomes of this program, every fellow (or team) will be paired with a coach, who will provide at least three virtual coaching sessions focused around providing customized support to COE staff when developing vision and plans. Coaching will also center around supporting development for managing and leading county/regional-level change initiatives. The main focus for each session is outlined below:
Coaching Session #1 - September/October: This initial session is focused on identifying elements of a fellows current context that are most relevant to the outcomes of this program, as well as getting organized around the fellows vision and potential plan. Coaches will start with the existing analysis that fellows have done, and support the transition to their new vision and planning document.
Coaching Session #2 - November/December: The second session supports fellows to shift from reflecting on vision and goals for different subsystems (curriculum, campus, etc.), to drafting an actionable plan with programs, projects, and services.
Coaching Session #3 - January: This final coaching session will support fellows to finalize their plans and capture their journey in this program, and articulate their reflections and plans in a case study and presentation format, both which will be shared publicly.
FINAL DELIVERABLES
STRATEGIC ACTION PLAN - DUE JANUARY
A final outcome of the CAELI COE Fellowship program includes fellows developing an actionable strategic plan that captures how your COE's environmental literacy and sustainability initiative can provide county/regional level "backbone support" to key constituents (administrators, teachers, staff, students, community based partners, etc.) in their school communities. These plans are meant to be shared with a COE leadership team to communicate the purpose and strategies of the initiative.
Plans will include the elements below - see plan template here (fellows currently enrolled will have an individual copy in your fellowship folder on google drive). :
Details for a 2-3 year initiative plan including vision, goals, projects, programs, or services, budget, and mechanisms for assessing impact
Identified action steps for the 2022-23 school year
If you would like to see an example of a strategic plan, check out example strategic plans from the first five years of the SMCOE Environmental Literacy and Sustainability Initiative - note that these strategic plans DO NOT use the template we are using in the CAELI COE Fellowship Program, but they do provide examples that have similar components.
FINAL PRESENTATION - JANUARY
Each fellow/fellow team will give an eight minute live virtual presentation that showcases highlights and reflections from the strategic plan. Fellows do not need to prepare a slide deck, but can use their action plan as a visual. Please use the following as a guide for what you might share about your plan:
Provide quick context: demographics
Share vision and goals for your initiative
Provide a high level overview of the following:
Programs and Networks
Projects
Technical Assistance
What are you most excited about?
What are you most concerned about?
Five years from now what will be different because of your plan Emphasize how historically marginalized students will benefit from these changes.
CASE STUDY - DUE APRIL 7th
Fellows will also complete a summative final reflection process that includes key learning from their participation, highlights from their action plan, and commitments to next steps. Make a copy of THIS TEMPLATE to complete your case study reflection - NOTE that case studies will be completed AFTER the final workshop, and will be due by April 7th.
FINAL SURVEY - DUE MAY 5th
Fellows will be brought back together on Friday April 28th for a short workshop to check in on progress since January and to complete a final survey. - NOTE that final survey link will be provided at the April 28th session.
